Bonfire night ie tonight on 5th November is now far less popular. Blame the health and safety brigade with the associated fireworks and bonfires. Curiously no one seems to mind too much the anti-catholic origins as 9 out of 10 people have no idea anyway. I have had to put up with about 50 years worth of jokes about Guy Fawkes.

The way it seems to work is as follows. If you want to be part of the fun and have people visit then you have to display pumpkins with candles and cover the front of the house with fake spiders webs, ghosts/skeletons etc. Then hordes of children descend. Lindsay does a special web delivery of sweets as we are inundated with children from her school. Quite right about having an age limit. Teenagers get a life - it's for little ones. I also can't stand those horrible white face masks from a film (is it 'Scream'?). They get v short shrift. Anyone not saying suitable thank you's gets a detention next day at school.

Regards,
Guy

guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02346804356499461777noreply@blogger.com
