Or how we spent the day Friday.
The Grand Duchess had surgery on one of her feet yesterday, which left the Young Master (on his Spring Break) and yours truly to hang around the waiting area and cafeteria reading, drawing, and watching Science Max videos on YouTube for a good six plus hours. My wife's surgery was delayed by 90 minutes once we arrived by complications for an earlier patient already in the operating room with the surgical team as far as we could tell from the large, color-coded progress screen for patients' families in the large waiting area.
Hurry up and wait, eh? After the nurses finally wheeled the Grand Duchess away, Paul and I enjoyed a fairly palatable lunch in the cafeteria before returning to the waiting area to continue our time-killing activities.
Anyway, the procedure went well, and we finally returned home late yesterday afternoon after a quick stop at the pharmacy to pick up a couple of prescriptions. The Grand Duchess is resting now after a full night's sleep, and I'll go upstairs in a few minutes to help her down the steps and onto the chaise by the fireplace in the library. She can spend most of the day reading or catching up on work email, which never seems to stop given her administrative duties in the college.
Good thing we are all well-versed in using Zoom and Microsoft Teams at this point for meetings because she needs to stay off the foot for six weeks before some physical therapy.
Today is Saturday of course, so The Young Master and I might head out later today to visit the annual Science Fair at the university. He really enjoys this yearly month-long event, which will give Sonja some much needed time to herself to doze, or simply stare at the ceiling with some music or a podcast in the background.

Ditto six weeks ago. She gets the surgical shoe off this week. Even the delay was in our story also. Worked from home via FMLA for 2 weeks, off an on. Getting kids lunches and other meals, and running food and drink up to the wife all day. Never been so tired. How do our wives do all that they do? JDV
