Freaky Friday Uniform Style. . .

A mostly linen Polo University Club jacket with a J. Press necktie, Put This On pocket square, and Brooks Brothers cotton shirt.

Land's End khakis, Polo socks, and Allen Edmonds penny loafers along with an almost matching reddish-brown braided leather belt. Easy, fast, and looks pretty good.

One of the "joys," if I might use that word, of having a uniform of sorts is that dressing is easy and fast. Since I overslept and was late in getting the Young Master breakfasted and to the school bus on time before helping the Grand Duchess -- who is recovering from foot surgery two weeks ago and using crutches -- get showered, dressed, and downstairs for her own day of work via Zoom, you'll understand the need for wardrobe expediency.

Unusually, I have two face-to-face meetings on campus this morning, which meant that the usual Rugby pullover and corduroy jeans would not suffice. Following a shower and shave, it was fairly easy to open the closet doors and pull out a few items that work reasonably well together without too much thought.

Good thing too since I was already a bit rattled by the late start and rapid acceleration required to get wife and child up and moving for their respective days before my own could begin. Calgon, take me away!

The day's end cannot come quickly enough. Following the Young Master's bedtime, my wife and I plan to open the usual bottle of wine this evening. I feel like I've earned it this week. Whew!

The Problem of "Business Casual" Attire. . .

This is how it's done. Business Casual the RIGHT way, ladies and gentlemen. Even during the summer months. The above photograph has been "borrowed" from the J. Press website. "I f you see something you want," advised my late mother, "buy it. It won't be there when you go back later." A favorite (and wise) adage hers that I still follow whenever possible. So when this item appeared on clearance at J. Press, I mulled it over for a couple of days, and then clicked the requisite boxes to make the online purchase. Should be here within the week. Once upon a time, I had a similar jacket by Corbin that I foolishly purged before we left Central Illinois ('Illi-noir' anyone?) for Michigan almost 10 years ago. Not sure what I was thinking at the time since I did like the item and wore it routinely. This one will be a bit nicer and help me make sartorial amends. At least to myself. -- Heinz-Ulrich
