Cinco de Mayo Style. . .

Today is the Grand Duchess' 29th birthday (once again), so we escaped to our favorite local quick and greasy for breakfast once the Young Master had departed on the school bus. We both had appointments on or around campus later in the morning, so we breakfasted dressed for public consumption. I was all J. Press above the waist. A rare shot of my aging mug, shaving nick and all.

I can't decide if these particular eyeglass frames are more Elvis Costello, or more Michael Caine.

"It takes a man in a tweed suit three seconds to fall from the top of Tower Bridge to the street below. Now, there's not a lot of people who know that!" You be the judge.

Anyway, a special dinner this evening with flowers, a few gifts, and some wine by the fire following the Young Master's bedtime. It's still chilly here in Mid-Fishigan.

Mid-November Monday. . .

A few minutes between classes this morning, so I snapped pictures of today's attire and accessories. The first wearing this season of the Optimo 'Dearborn' fedora, and the tie is a vintage number from Orvis, a nod to my late father's fly-fishing and fly-tying hobbies. It's been two or three years since this particular necktie's last appearance, so high time to pull it out and knot it carefully around the ol' neck. Managed to nail it on the first attempt too. My Preferred Oxford Cloth Button-Down Shirts. . .

One of several light blue cotton oxford cloth button-down collar shirts in my rotation, worn here with a wool flannel navy blazer and a vintage Italian silk necktie once sold under the Rooster label.
