Spring Has Sprung (for the Moment). . .

Sounds like the opening line of a tune by Sergio Mendez and Brazil '66. Maybe the B-side of Mas Que Nada? Although I prefer the original version by Jorge Ben from 1962. But I digress.

Monday was warmer and slightly muggy with temperatures in the low 70s Fahrenheit by early afternoon, so time to break out a warm weather navy blazer and gray gabardine trousers along with tan shoes, belt, and a suitably seasonal shirt from good ol' Mercer & Sons.

Must admit I had a spring to my step as I made the short jaunt from the front door to the car early that morning.

The shoes and pants have been in the rotation for years at this point. Now, tan shoes are not everybody's cup of tea, but they work reasonably well on warm, sunny days unless one wears a dark suit when the combination looks a bit off. Light gray, beige, or taupe pants are somewhat easier to pull off with tan footwear.

The matching belt (not shown) was added about four or five years ago. The blazer and shirt are more recent additions, added at different points last year, late spring and late summer if memory serves. Not a bad combination of older and newer items if I do say so myself.

Must make a mental note to repeat the combination before too long.

Mid-November Monday. . .

A few minutes between classes this morning, so I snapped pictures of today's attire and accessories. The first wearing this season of the Optimo 'Dearborn' fedora, and the tie is a vintage number from Orvis, a nod to my late father's fly-fishing and fly-tying hobbies. It's been two or three years since this particular necktie's last appearance, so high time to pull it out and knot it carefully around the ol' neck. Managed to nail it on the first attempt too. My Preferred Oxford Cloth Button-Down Shirts. . .

One of several light blue cotton oxford cloth button-down collar shirts in my rotation, worn here with a wool flannel navy blazer and a vintage Italian silk necktie once sold under the Rooster label. An orange-brown with silvery paisleys, ideal for the autumn.
