What a delight it was to hear the Beatles pronounce the word "writer" with a "t", unlike the sloppy pronunciation that makes the word indistinguishable from the word "rider".
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments, men. And I must agree on the observation about pronunciation of vowels and consonants. Regional variations are wonderful, and I certainly don't expect us to speak like 1930s and 40s BBC radio and newsreel announcers. But good God have we become sloppy with regards to speech habits in the 21st century U.S.!
